1787 New Jersey Camel Head PCGS VF35 Maris 56-n (Rarity-1)
Reference #: C30 "The ""Camel Head"" is a popular type, which some people are known to collect as a series onto itself, for the wealth of undertype variations that the frequent use of other circulating coppers of the time for planchet stock resulted in. This coin was struck over a Connecticut Copper, most likely a 1787 issue. Signs of the host coin are most apparent in an upside down branch hand emerging form the base of the NJ horse, and for the Connecticut legend AUCTORI showing at the right of the reverse. This is an attractive coin, with contrastng light and darker chocolate browns at points. Obverse is smooth and glossy, the reverse just a tad less so but pleasing nonetheless. Date struck low on the obverse, but still fully readable and no problems to speak of."

On the reverse, signs of the undertype are clearest at the base of the shield.
